Yamaha Sterilgarda rider Cal Crutchlow sent a clear message today in the Superpole session, the British rider putting in devastatingly fast laps through the heats to claim his fifth pole position start of the year. Unfortunately this ride has been cancelled by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS). Following Club Y's initial approach to QPWS canvassing approval for the ride, we were contacted some weeks later by telephone and told that the ride cannot go ahead for "safety" reasons. Finally and in writing QPWS have advised that there is no additional commercial capacity for activity on Fraser Island.
The Staff at Club Y apologise to the intending Gold Member participants for the inconvenience but are now excited to announce an even better replacement ride - 2 days from MALENY to KENILWORTH and back again! In our last Club Y newsletter, young South Australian Motocross rider Tate Lindstrom shared with us how his determination to compete in the sport he loves so much brought him realize his dream no matter what. Tate wrote how being born with only a right hand, had his parents seriously concerned that he might not be able to ride a push bike, then the same concern existed when they bought the family’s first mini bike. Tate however didn’t share their concern and had no problems adapting. Tate added, “I don’t even think I was aware I had one hand until I was ten years old and even now I forget until I walk in front of mirror.”
John Hall, the father of the Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE), passed away in New South Wales yesterday at the age of 73 after a long battle with cancer. Hall was a dedicated rider, Official and administrator who was responsible for starting the A4DE in 1978, and was the main instigator in pushing for the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) to be run in Australia, which took place in 1992 and 1998
